Massive Pride Parade

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to march in Toronto’s Pride parade and for the first time they’ll be joined by Canada’s sitting Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will march along with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Toronto Mayor John Tory.

In a statement the Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May says there is much to be proud in terms of acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community but there is still more that needs to be done.

“We must continue to work toward making our communities more tolerant and safe for everyone, including those in the LGBTQ+ community,” says May.

This year’s Pride celebrations are dedicated to the victims murdered in the Orlando night club shooting last month. There will be a moment of silence during today’s parade.
