GFO: Grain Discovery ZoneAugust 9, 2017 12:00pm
The Grain Discovery Zone is making its way across the province this summer.
The event trailer, featuring a corn box and other educational activities for children, was at the Nappanee Fair this past weekend.
The Grain Discovery Zone is part of the Good in Every Grain is a public outreach campaign by Grain Farmers of Ontario, the province’s largest commodity organization. Good in Every Grain was developed to tell the story of Ontario’s grain farmers to consumers across the province.
The Grain Discovery Zone is an opportunity for visitors to have questions answered about grain farming. Topics of discussion include everything from basic farming questions, to what crops people might see out in the field, to more involved questions about GMOs, gluten free eating and pesticides.
This is a chance to be a voice for grain farming and help clear up any misconceptions about farming.
Coming up this weekend, the Grain Discovery Zone will be at the Navan Fair. You can share your encounter with Lauren Barker, Grain Discovery Zone ambassador, and the corn box fun on Twitter @GoodinGrain using #GrainDiscoveryZone.
