Grain Farmers of Ontario’s research department is working on stripe rust research and we need your help!
There was high severity of stripe rust in wheat fields in southwestern Ontario in 2016. The University of Guelph Wheat Breeding Program is undertaking a new research project to study the distribution of different races of rust diseases and stripe rust in Ontario. They need a collection of as many rust samples as possible from farms across Ontario. Your assistance in collecting samples is very important to this research and is greatly appreciated.
Samples can be sent to Dr. Mitra Serajazari at the University of Guelph. For details on the information needed with these samples visit, www.ontariograinfarmer.ca and look up the April web special on stripe rust.
As well, Grain Farmers of Ontario is working on a project for Canada’s 150! If you are a generational farmer and your family has been on your land for 150 years or more, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
