Proposed Changes To Vegetable Growers’ Governance Up For Comment

Details of proposed changes to the Ontario Processing Vegetable Growers’ governance structure are up for public comment.

In a statement from Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Jeff Leal, the proposed changes have been implemented for other marketing boards and government officials say they are aligned with current best practices when creating or amending marketing board plan regulations.

And Leal adds the changes are consistent with the government’s strong support of regulated marketing in the province of Ontario.

Leal says Ontario’s processing vegetable sector is an economic driver for the province- accounting for more than $100 million in economic activity each and every year.

The proposed updates are currently posted for public comment on the provincial Regulatory Registry for forty-five days and interested parties can provide their comments by July 31.
