National Pollinator Award Goes To Alberta Nominee

The 2013 winners of the Canadian Farmer-Rancher Pollinator Conservation Award were from Norfolk County, here in Ontario.

This year’s winners are from Ferintosh, Alberta.

2014 winner Takota Coen is being recognised for using community support agriculture to educate the public about the importance of pollinators in agriculture.

Coen is among several Pollinator Partnership award winners being honoured this week in Washington.

The others include the U-S Farmer-Rancher award winner as well as one Pollinator Advocate Award winner from each of Canada, the U-S and Mexico.

The Canadian winner in that category is Sustainable.TO.

The Pollinator Partnership awards recognize the role the winners play in ensuring a healthy future for pollinator populations.
