The owner of Leamington’s New Energy Farms has reportedly been shot and killed in Brazil.

Two Brazilian publications say Dean Tiessen was killed at apparently coming upon a highway robbery near Sao Paulo.

Tiessen’s company, New Energy Farms, hosted an event earlier this fall showing off some of their biomass innovations.

Visitors to that event included people from Brazil as well as from Europe and New Zealand.

New Energy grows biomass grasses from seed and has a facility to make plastic products from the grasses it grows.

It’s believed that Dean Tiessen was in Brazil on a business trip when he was killed.
